ThermiTight for Skin Tightening – Charleston SC

Am I a Candidate for ThermiTight for Skin Tightening

Skin Tightening

When you’re looking to have a skin tightening procedure that looks natural and that will improve your appearance cosmetically, it’s important to know if you’re a good candidate for ThermiTight. Skin laxity is a common concern mainly for people who:

  • Are genetically disposed
  • Showing signs of aging
  • Have experienced drastic weight loss
  • Have suffered an accident or trauma

For people who are not comfortable with the idea of undergoing aggressive surgery to correct their skin laxity, ThermiTight is a painless micro-invasive alternative that doesn’t require a long recovery. Many patients prefer this alternative because they don’t have to worry about taking time away from their lives to recover.

How Does ThermiTight Work?

This modern procedure for facelifts and liposuction uses radiofrequency technology that stimulates your collagen production by heating your subdermal tissue with a probe that is placed underneath your skin. The results are most favorable for patients who are looking to smoothen, tighten and lift areas of their skin. It is an attractive alternative for patients who are aiming to look younger and do not want to have the standard surgical facelift procedure. Some patients choose ThermiTight to lessen areas of cellulite in various areas of their bodies.

ThermiTight can be useful on just about all parts of the body including the abdomen, neck, face, breast, and arms. Since tumescent anesthesia is used, you won’t need general anesthesia unless you prefer it. There is absolutely no downtime and the only post-treatment care that is required is the use of mild soap and sunscreen.

Will ThermiTight for Skin Tightening Work for Me?

The perfect candidate for a ThermiTight procedure are people who want to tighten any area of their skin that they would like to improve without having to undergo invasive surgery. It’s also ideal for individuals who want their results to last longer than using dermal fillers or who want additional skin tightening performed after a liposuction or CoolSculpting procedure done. Schedule a meeting with Dr. Patrick O’Neill to learn more about this procedure.

What You Need to Know About Botox

The Growing Trend of Botox

Botox is the most popular cosmetic procedure performed in the US. Every year, approximately six million botox procedures are performed and over the years, the numbers seem to be growing. Before deciding to have a shot of Botox, it is imperative that you understand as much about the procedure as possible.

Botox – An Injectable

Botox is the brand name for a toxin produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is injected into the face and neck muscles to treat wrinkles, temporarily erase horizontal lines on the forehead, crow’s feet and vertical frown lines. It also softens smoker’s lines along the mouth, lifts the sagging edges of the mouth and softens vertical neck cords. The treatment does this by blocking signals from nerves to the muscles so that the facial muscles that contract hundreds of times a day are slowed down completely, effectively ridding your face of fine lines.

Minimal Discomfort is Endured

Botox injections are not painful and in a lot of cases, only a small discomfort will be felt. However, if you’re terrified of needles, most doctors can give you anesthesia before the procedure or ice to numb the discomfort. Botox takes time to kick in. The disappearance of fine lines can be seen in a few days and in two weeks, the complete results will be visible. It’s therefore advised to have your shot taken two weeks before your big event.  You’re also advised to avoid alcohol, aspirin and anti-inflammatory drugs a week or two before the procedure to prevent bruising.  A single shot of Botox can last from 4 to 6 months. Both men and women are using and benefiting from Botox

Microdermabrasion Vs. Chemical Peels

Both microdermabrasion and chemical peels are popular anti-aging skin care services we perform routinely in our Charleston plastic surgery center, but there are some key differences between the two skin treatments. Some of our patients aren’t sure which kind of treatment would be better for them and their personal aesthetic goals. Learn more about each procedure and which one might be better for you. Make your appointment with our on-staff esthetician in Charleston!

microdermabrasion charleston sc 2

Microdermabrasion is a minimally abrasive exfoliating technique. Specialty instruments are used to gently remove the uneven outer layer of your skin and promote collagen production in your skin. Collagen is a vital protein for keeping your skin youthful, smooth, and clear.

After microdermabrasion, patients have no down time and you’ll leave our Charleston office with a youthful, long lasting glow. We recommend one treatment a month for the best results.

Microdermabrasion is more successful targeting minor skin imperfections, including:

  • Skin Texture
  • Skin Tone
  • Clogged Pores
  • Acne/Black Heads
  • Softening of Acne Scars

Chemical Peels

Like microdermabrasion, chemical peels are used to improve skin irregularities, but the procedures are different. A chemical peel is a minimally abrasive technique that uses a chemical solution that is carefully applied to your skin. The chemicals remove the damaged outer layers to unveil a smooth, youthful skin surface. There are three types of chemical peels, light, moderate, and deep. Peel strength is selected according to our patients’ concerns and lifestyle.

Recovery is minimal, but patients can expect redness, flaking, and general skin irritation after the treatment. Recovery after a deep peel will cause the most symptoms.

Chemical peels are suited to treat multiple light to moderate skin imperfections, including

  • Skin Texture
  • Acne & Acne Scars
  • Age Spots
  • Wrinkles & Fine Lines
  • Skin Pigmentation
  • Sun-Damaged Skin
  • Scars
  • Freckles
