Latissimus Flap Breast Reconstruction
Charleston breast reconstruction patients also have the option of undergoing a latissimus dorsi flap procedure.
A latissimus flap uses tissue from your upper back (the latissimus dorsi) to create a new breast mound after the original breast has been removed during a mastectomy. A selection of skin and muscle will be moved from your upper back to the chest to create a reconstructed breast.
The latissimus flap procedure is highly dependable and generally does not take as long to perform as free flap procedures.
