Liposuction- Charleston, SC

If you have worked for years to eat well and exercise right, to still be troubled by stubborn fatty areas, you might want to look into liposuction. Liposuction targets localized fat deposits that just don’t seem to go away on their own. These areas could be caused by genetics, so it’ no wonder all of your kale smoothies and Zumba classes aren’t doing the trick. And if the state of your body is affecting your self-esteem or daily activities, it’s time to make a change!

Here are a few places where liposuction can be done to remove fat:

  • Muffin top
  • Love handles
  • Thighs
  • Hips and buttocks
  • Abdomen and waist
  • Upper arms
  • Back
  • Inner knee
  • Chest area
  • Cheeks, chin and neck
  • Calves and ankles

During Surgery

After Dr. O’Neill prepares you for surgery, he will make a small incision over the fatty area that you want to get rid of. Then, a hollow tube (cannula) will be inserted into the area. To break up the fat cells, Dr. O’Neill will move the cannula back and forth and then suck up the broken down fat with a vacuum tube.

After Surgery

After the procedure is complete, you may experience swelling and bruising. You can expect results from your liposuction surgery in two to four weeks, with final results appearing anywhere between 2 to 6 months. Be careful, though, because if you experience significant weight gain after your surgery, the fatty deposits that were removed could come back

Are You a Good Candidate?

If you’re thinking about getting a liposuction procedure, there are a few things you should keep in mind. We recommend patients who want liposuction to be nonsmoker, in good health, and close to their target weight. If you feel you meet these specifications, then you would be a good candidate.
