Rhinoplasty (Nose Reshaping)
The shape of the nose can be the cause of confidence and self-esteem problems for people of any age and situation. Rhinoplasty is the plastic surgery procedure used to improve the shape, appearance, and proportion of the nose. Rhinoplasty can also be used to fix a deviated septum or any structural defects in the nose that causes impaired breathing.
To enhance your facial harmony and self confidence with a rhinoplasty, call our Charleston, SC plastic surgery clinic at 843-881-2130 to schedule a consultation with our experienced plastic surgeon Dr. O’Neill. *As with any procedure and/or treatment the results may vary.
- Nose size, in relation to facial balance
- Nose width, at the bridge or in the size and position of the nostrils
- Nose profile, with visible humps or depressions on the bridge
- Nasal tip, that is enlarged or bulbous, drooping, upturned or hooked
- Nostrils that are large, wide or upturned
- Nasal asymmetry
Incisions are hidden at the nostril base and/or inside the nose to allow access to reshape cartilage and bone. Dr. O’Neill may lower humps of the nose, narrow of nasal bones, reshape the tip of the nose, change nostril size, or adjust the angle between the nose and the upper lip.
Rhinoplasty can also correct breathing difficulties caused by structural irregularities.
After Rhinoplasty Surgery
The cartilage of the nose is a flexible and growing tissue, so results following surgery are not completely predictable. Patients should see settled results within six to eight weeks following surgery, with continued refinements for over the course of a year as facial tissue and cartilage settles.
