Quick & Easy Tattoo Removal

If you are debating the pros and cons of getting your tattoo(s) removed, it is definitely important to know about the PicoSure laser tattoo removal system. The PicoSure laser sends laser light into your skin resulting in a breakup of ink and complete ink clearance in a matter of treatments. This laser technology is new to Charleston, and the O’Neill Plastic Surgery center.

How Does PicoSure Remove Tattoos “Quick & Easy”?

The PicoSure tool sends ultra-short pulses of photomechanical heat energy (lasers) into the skin to shatter tattoo ink. Once the laser breaks apart the ink particles within the skin, the particles can be absorbed naturally in the body, resulting in complete ink clearance in just a few treatments. Each treatment lasts about ten minutes. For an average hand-sized tattoo, Dr. O’Neill estimates full ink clearance and tattoo removal in three to four treatments.

The PicoSure’s photomechanical heat energy is less abrasive and causes less cellular damage on the surrounding cells than some other types of removal procedures. This results in less pain and irritation on healing.

How Does It Compare To Traditional Tattoo Removal Systems?

Compared to traditional “Q-Switched” removal, the PicoSure treatments work more quickly and patients can expect full clearance with fewer treatments.

Also, traditional treatments break up the cells resulting in more pain, more redness and irritation, and a slower recovery. The PicoSure treatment is a gentler approach, without the extreme heat energy so skin is cleared and healed much quicker than traditional treatments.
