Are You A Good Candidate For A Breast Lift?

A breast lift procedure helps to restore the pleasing shape and profile that is sometimes lost to aging, childbearing, or changes in weight. If your breasts are no longer firm, are sagging, or if your nipples have moved so that they “point” to the floor, a breast lift might be the right procedure for you.

Breast Lift vs Augmentation

Augmentation is a procedure which involves implanting a pouch containing silicone, saline, or gel to improve the profile, size, and shape of the breasts. Unlike an augmentation, a lift procedure uses the existing natural body fat, as well as surgical procedures, to enhance the profile and create a more youthful appearance.

A breast lift procedure is right for a candidate who:

  • Is experiencing sagging or drooping
  • Is unhappy with the size or position of the areolas
  • Has lost skin quality and elasticity due to aging or child birth

How Does It Work?

Under anesthesia, Dr. O’Neill will make one to several incisions depending upon the size and shape of your breasts and the changes to be made. The specifics of your individual treatment will be determined beforehand during your consultation. Once the incisions are made, the underlying breast tissue is lifted and reshaped to improve the contour and firmness of the breast. The doctor then repositions and rebuilds the areolas if necessary, and excess skin and fat is removed to create a firmer appearance.

Recovery

As with any surgery, there will be some downtime following the procedure. It’s important to have someone to assist you with tasks, especially lifting, for at least a few days. Heavy activity will need to be avoided for at least several weeks. You’ll be wearing an elastic bandage and support bra to minimize swelling and offer good support while your breasts heal. You may be given a thin plastic drainage tube which will help reduce swelling as well.  You’ll be given specific instructions on how to care for your breasts following surgery, so be sure to follow them carefully.

Ready to regain a more perky, youthful profile and firmer breasts? Call for your initial consultation today, and decide whether a breast lift procedure is the right option for you.
