The Basics of Our New BBL HERO

You may think you know all you need about a BBL, but we have a concept for you to learn. Welcome the newest service at O’Neill Plastic Surgery, BBL HERO. This stands for Broadband Light High Energy Rapid Output, and it is the latest laser we have to offer. Even stronger than an IPL treatment, this new procedure can bring anti-aging and photo-correcting results to your skin. While we’re starting to get bundled up for the changes in the weather, it is the perfect time to work on your skin without worrying about avoiding the sun after!

Learning More About The BBL HERO

What is it?

The new BBL HERO is a new and improved version of the laser we know and love. It uses increased speed, shortened pulse width, high peak power, and twice the cooling capacity of the original to help keep the irritation away. The improvements to the broadband light treatment are attributed to the duration of the pulses. With this new laser, you receive 1,200 to 1,500 pulses in one session versus around 250 to 350 pulses with the original.

Who receives this procedure?

We recommend that the ideal candidate for the BBL HERO procedure has a few characteristics to consider. They should have had no recent sun exposure or damaged skin areas. They must also have sun damage or redness that they would like addressed.

There is a wavelength option for darker skin tones, but it can also be recommended for those at the Fitzpatrick skin tone scale’s light to medium dark end. A consultation with one of our laser specialists will give you the chance to know if you are a candidate for the procedure.

What is the experience like?

With the way the new laser works, practitioners can move it swiftly from area to area due to it not requiring the same stamp and pulse method that the older lasers require. The patient can feel more comfortable as the laser distributes faster and more effective energy to the skin. Patients often feel the same flash of warmth as other types of lasers. Most can often experience the laser without numbing anesthetic cream.

What happens after the procedure?

The BBL HERO is considered a procedure that has little to no downtime. However, the treated skin may look and feel sunburned in the few hours after the treatment. You may use cool compresses and ibuprofen to dispel discomfort. When treating blood vessels, you want to look for post-procedure bruising.

You should also pair all of this with a continued dedication to a sunscreen routine. After the procedure, your skin will be extra sensitive to sunlight for two weeks or more. This dedication to your sunscreen routine is better for your results.

How many sessions do I need to see results?

With your first BBL HERO treatment, you will see some results. However, you can expect to return once or twice after the initial setting. You can consider optimal results after an average of two to five treatments, depending on the condition being treated.

The most consistent schedule is three treatments spaced 4 to 12 weeks apart to allow for skin revitalization. It is a journey towards progress and reaching your final goals. That also means maintenance treatment every six months to a year to maintain the results.

It is time to consider the revolutionary step in laser skin treatment! We’re so excited to introduce the BBL HERO to all of our patients. Whether you have tried out laser skincare before or are looking for something new, we can help you meet the skin goals you have been aiming for. Ready to book your first session?
