CHEMICAL PEEL: Once you understand what it is and how it can help your skin, your eyes will widen with excitement!! A chemical peel, simply put, is a solution that is applied to a treatment area (s) such as your face, neck, chest and back to help shed the top outer of the epidermis, or skin. Chemical peels can be very mild and gentle as well as strong and aggressive. Here is were your skincare specialist will dive into what you are looking to accomplish, what skin type you have, and inform you on the downtime if there is any. The downtime is important to know about because you don’t want to have a chemical peel and then have a special wedding to attend or a fancy party to host while your skin is recovering!! Mild and gentle chemical peels with no downtime are just as wonderful as the more aggressive peels, mild peels give your skin the boost and glow it needs to host that party or dance the night away at that wedding. Aggressive peels, on the other hand, can vary in strength and depth into the skin layers. Your skin’s reaction will most likely be more aggressive meaning, redness, soreness, flaking, and aggressive peeling. It is also important to know about proper care for your skin before and after an aggressive peel. Here at O’Neill Plastic Surgery Aesthetic and Laser Center, we have the knowledge, skill, and experience to give you the care you so deserve.

ZO Skin PeelHere’s what you need to know about ZO 3 -STEP PEEL!! First and foremost, this is one of the more aggressive peels that will require 6 weeks of preparation. The regimen for the preparation will be the ZO SKIN HEALTH MULTI-THERAPY HYDROQUINONE KIT + Refissa. This kit will include, Melamin, Melamix, Exfoliation Accelerator and Daily Power Defense and the Refissa can be purchased separately. This is a high potency bleaching and blending program to treat hyperpigmentation, texture and sun damage as well as rebuild the health of your skin barrier. This program takes time to build tolerance to and you will need the full 6 weeks to prepare prior to your scheduled peel. Your provider will give you specific instructions on how and when to use these products to achieve optimal results in a timely manner. Also, while this kit is very important to your treatment, it is also very important that you have the general skincare regimen that is recommended to you by your provider. This will include cleanse, exfoliate, tone, antioxidant, and sunscreen.

Once you’ve completed your 6 weeks of bleaching and blending, you are ready for the 3-Step Peel! This beautiful peel has TCA, salicylic and lactic acids to remove the outer layer of the epidermis. There will also be an application of a 6% retinol crème complex and finally a calming crème. You will be sent home with the remaining retinol and calming crème with instructions on what to do next! Healing time varies from person to person but assume 7 days to fully heal. You will experience, redness, some soreness, tightness, flaking, and sheet peeling.

Here at O’Neill Plastic Surgery Aesthetic and Laser Center, we are so excited for this time of year and we are excited to see you here!!

Happy Peeling!!
